Okay friends, help me out..... there is a local freebie weekly newspaper here called The Hippo which features local entertainment, restaurants, events, music, etc etc and they are always looking for freelance photographers. Here is what the ad says:
Shoot for Us! The Hippo wants photographers with a magazine sensibility. We need a photographer who can shoot food, people, or action and produce an eye-grabbing photo. Hippo's covers offer photographers a chance to show off and produce work that will enhance their portfolio. Hippo contracts with freelance photographers for covers on a per-assignment basis. Photographers must have their own digital camera and equipment. Send samples of your best work and your resume to --------.
What do you think? Should I go for it? I am SO shy about things like this, just the thought terrifies me. But it could mean some great opportunities to shoot FOOD. Like for real, not just for my blog. LOL. It would also help to build my confidence, which is my biggest stumbling block right now.
In other news, today I was very busy and spent almost all day outside planting bulbs. In the mail I got 144 tulip bulbs, 14 giant hyacinth, 12 daffodil, and 5 paperwhite narcissus (for this winter). I dug and dug and dug, and got 102 tulips planted. Do you know how far 100 tulips goes? Not very far. Seriously. It sounds like a lot, but it's really not so much. It's a lot of work, but worth every minute spent on it when in the spring they start coming up after a long winter.
I am little behind in reading your blog... But I really think you should do it. You would be really awesome at it. You are very talented!

I am a lurker here, but I have been a long time fan of your scrapbook pages and your photography. I think you do a wonderful job shooting food even in poor restaurant lighting. Imagine what you could do when you have the proper conditions. I say go for it!!

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do. -Eleanor Roosevelt

I am a total lurker on your site, but I totally think you should go for it! You're so talented. I've watched you when you were PKPT and loved all your work, especially your photos. (And I love Mexican food, too).
