This is soooo awesome. I am really enjoying my newfound knowledge of how to save lots of money. What took me so long?? Anyway, I have this whole "station" set up right now.... a 6' table (used to be one of my scrapbooking tables) set up in the living room with stacks of coupons ALL over it, and also sales flyers of various drug and grocery stores, with my list on top of it and any applicable coupons I want to use with my transaction. Once I get my binder set up hopefully I won't need a whole table to do this. Sundays are very exciting(!!) when the newspaper comes out with all the week's new coupons and sales.
One thing I am learning is that you should probably never pay money for toothpaste ever again in your life. In my short time of paying attention to these things I've seen about half a dozen ways to get free toothpaste all over the place.
Here are some of the deals I scored this week....... (yes, all the stores were practically giving away these razors so I stocked up)
Venus Embrace Razor, reg. $11.99. On sale for $10 - $6 rebate - $4 coupon = FREE
Mach3 Disposable Razors, reg. $7.49. On sale for $6 - $3 rebate - $3 coupon = FREE
Excedrin 24 ct, reg. $4.29. On sale for $2 - $2 coupon = FREE
Cover Girl cosmetics, BOGO. After the free item and minus 2 $1 coupons = $4.23.
So a grand total of $36.25 in merchandise, after sales, rebates, and coupons, I paid $4.23 total (no sales tax in NH either) 89% savings
This was just a good deal I happened to hear about.... a local radio station had a "Deal of the Week" where you could buy $50 in gift certificates for $25, so we snagged it.
Venus Embrace Razor, on sale for $8.99 - $4 coupon - $5 register rewards = FREE
Mach3 Disposable Razors, on sale $6.99 - $3 coupon + free can of shaving gel -$1 coupon = less than free
2 packs of Olay bar soap, sale price $4.00 - $4 register rewards - $2 coupon = FREE + $2 profit!
Colgate toothpaste, $2.99, free after rebate (but I messed up, there was a limit of 1 rebate, so I'm stuck with the other one)
Bounty Big 6 roll, reg. $9.99 - $4.00 store coupon - $1 mfg coupon = $5.00
couple of other things, not too interesting (Dave's mints not pictured, they were full price)....
Grand total of $50.20 in merchandise, and after sales, coupons, rebates, and register rewards, I paid $11.24 out of pocket. 78% savings
Duracell Battery Charger, reg. $14.99. Sale price $9.99 - $4/20 CVS coupon = $5.99
Duracell 4 AA rechargable batteries, reg. $14.99, sale price $9.99 - $5 Extra Care Bucks = $4.99
2 Colgate toothpaste, reg. $2.99 each, FREE after $5.98 ECB + $1 coupon profit
Crest Pro Health Night rinse, reg. $3.49, FREE after $3.49 ECB
3 bags of Hershey candy, reg $2.99 each, on sale $.99 each - $1.50/3 coupon = 50 cents each
Those rechargable batteries are expensive full price!! $48.42 total merchandise, after sales, coupons and Extra Care Bucks, I paid $11.45. 77% savings
So that was my first week of hitting all the drug stores, seeing which ones I liked best and trying my hand at a few things. Now that I have a "bank" of WG register rewards and CVS Extra Care Bucks, if I play my cards right hopefully I'll never have to spend much out of pocket there again, I can keep rolling over my bucks again and again if I choose my sales wisely.
