I totally missed the harvest moon tonight. I kept forgetting about it, and then finally at 7:30 Drew reminded us that we needed to go out and look at the moon (as is his nightly trip outside just before bed). I had been thinking it was cloudy today, but a quick peek out the window at a bright Jupiter confirmed it was NOT, so I ran around grabbing camera and big lens and ran outside as fast as I could...... because you know the moon changes in minutes and you can't miss it. Unfortunately it was already high in the sky and I did not have my tripod or anything ready so I just hand-held it and hoped for the best. This was all I got (after cropping out probably 500,000 miles of dark sky):
so I'm a little bummed about that. Not crisp at all, but then again am I surprised? I should be kicked in the teeth for even trying to hand hold a moon shot. Oh well. Maybe I can try again tomorrow if conditions are right.
