Liquid Planet in Candia has only been open for a couple of years now, and this year we decided to give it a try since Drew is at an age to really enjoy it. It was awesome. It's a very small local waterpark but it's great because it's small enough that you can easily keep track of where your children are, it's close to home, and has a great "spray ground" for the younger kids. We had 4 kids in ages from 3, 6, 10, and almost 13 and they all enjoyed it, so there is something for just about all kids.
We had a really really hard time getting Drew in there. I kept telling him it was a playground with water, and he just thought it was a playground so he threw a fit when I tried to get his swim diaper and trunks on in the back of the car. Didn't like the sunscreen. Then couldn't wait in line for the admission tickets. He kept running under the ropes into other families trying to get away, didn't even know where he was going, but was screaming and crying and just trying to BOLT. Very upset. Then they made everybody wear those plastic bracelets to show you have a ticket and THAT is just torture for Drew. He tried to tear his arm off trying to get that bracelet off. Then we had issues when he had to go in the bathroom with me, kept crawling under the door while I was in the stall. And then finally, as we exited the bathroom and were walking to the spray ground, he just freaking BOLTS, running as hard as he could..... where to? I don't know but I had to throw down my bag and sprint after him (in flip flops) as he flew past the spray ground, past the water slides....... he didn't even know wherehe was going but he was going to RUN AWAY. Sheesh. This is a major part of the reason why I can't take him anywhere. He just goes into hysterics over the littlest things, doesn't transition well in new places.
So finally, I got him back to the spray ground area, went in the water with him..... and ahhhhh. He started to have fun. Finally. Sometimes it's an awful lot of work to make this kid have fun. But it's always worth it.
It looks cloudier in these pictures than it actually was. It was so HOT that day, there was a heat advisory that afternoon. But we stayed cool while we were there! And miraculously, once again nobody got sunburned. Except I missed a couple of places on me because I was in a hurry and completely distracted by Drew's meltdowns, but I was just a little pink in a couple of small places. Nothing bad. It was an awesome time, and we want to take Drew (and Parker!) back there again this summer.
