We had another fun and successful clambake this month, always held the first Saturday in August at the Portsmouth Naval Yard. We headed to Kittery for the MOAA clambake and it's always nice to head over the bridge into Maine.
We had our work cut out for us--last year Parker was pretty much a newborn but this year he is an active toddler who was into everything. And Drew of course is very active and running around. So there was virtually no time for talking to family, or catching up, or eating at a picnic-pace. It was all babysitting and chasing kids. Not relaxing at all, but at least the scenery is different than what we have at home.
Most of our time was spent at the playground that they have on base, and it's really nice.
Dave got a few minutes near the end to enjoy his lobster for a few minutes, maybe four minutes......
Joe had fun holding Parker for a while (and taught him about the lobster crackers) and gave us a little break:
And I took that opportunity to do my annual clambake headshots of some of the girls. Here are Katie, Kelsey, and Jessica. I've enjoyed seeing them grow through the years.
Drew finally caught on that the girls and Wendy were playing SCRABBLE!!! And he was hooked for the rest of the time, because there were letters everywhere! They were very impressed with all the words that he could spell and read, and he was happy as he could be.
That is so cute about the Scrabble!
