Last week my MIL was so kind to treat me to some new plants from our favorite nursery in Boscawen, NH: The Black Forest Nursery! I've been wanting to fill in some gaps in front of our deck, it's a big mish-mash of various perennials and I love trying out all kinds of things there. Anything goes! Any color, any size. It's a patchwork quilt.
So I picked up:
- Bee Balm "Marshall's Pink"
- Yarrow "Coronation Gold"
- Tickseed/Coreopsis "Early Sunrise"
- Oriental Poppy "Princess Victoria Louise"
- Echinacea, aka good ol' purple coneflower
- Sedum "Frosty Morn"
- Shasta Daisy "Becky"
Somehow I even managed to stay out of the hosta field (they have more hostas in one place than I've EVER seen) but since I already planted 25 bare-root no name hostas earlier this year I guess I'm a little hosta-ed out right now.
When I planted all that stuff, I took the opportunity to rearrange some things that were already there, mainly moving taller things to the back and shorter things to the front, since everything has gotten all jumbled up over the past few years, when I just chucked things in there randomly. What a lot of work! But I think it will all look really nice next year when everything fills in to the appropriate heights.
